High volume hydraulic fracturing, or “hydrofracking,” has influenced international and national energy markets and is currently at the forefront of local, state, and federal policy discussions. This program will provide an overview of the process of hydrofracking and the exploration of Marcellus/Utica Shale gas in New York State. Speakers will introduce the audience to the benefits, drawbacks and local influencers involved in hydrofracking. They will also cover the economic, energy, and environmental implications for Western New York. Both the public and private sectors are invited to attend. Networking and hors d’oeuvres will follow the presentations.
