ULI WNY: Connecting Neighborhoods Through Infill Development
Join ULI WNY’s Women’s Leadership Initiative for a series of presentations and a panel discussion on the topic of connecting neighborhoods and development to adjacent communities through infill development. Presentations will include two national experts: Jess Zimbabwe (Founding Executive Director, Rose Center for Public Leadership in Land Use), who will be discussing how the Rose Center has assisted municipalities with development through forums on public/private real estate development and workshops to educate public officials; and Cristina Garmendia (Senior Research Fellow, Rutgers CLiME), who will present how to utilize public/private partnership to encourage infill development on vacant land, and the challenges that are typically faced during the process. Additionally, Rachel Heckl (Lead Partner, 467 Richmond Ave LLC) and Rhonda Ricks, PhD (President, R+A+R Development) will provide a local perspective relating to their respective development projects at the Rosana Elizabeth Visual and Performing Arts Center (formerly the Richmond Ferry Church), and Parkview Apartments (formerly Buffalo School 59). The discussion will be moderated by Rebecca Gandour, who is the Director of Development for the City of Buffalo.
This program will offer 1.5 hours of AICP Continuing Education Credits. AIA credits pending approval.
