8:30 AM – 9:00 AM Registration Breakfast
9:00 AM – 10:15 AM Panel 1: State of Transportation in NY Metro Area
This panel will explore the challenges facing transit in the NY metro region, ranging from aging tunnels between New York and New Jersey to a lack of viable transit options in fast-growing areas of the city such as Brooklyn and Queens. Speakers will discuss the legislative hurdles that have faced those who have tried to solve these problems before, including public opposition and waning investment at the federal level.
10:15 AM – 10:30 AM Networking Break
10:30 AM – 11:45 AM Panel 2: Public Private Partnerships/Global Best Practices
Speakers will discuss how the private sector can help meet the transit challenges New Yorkers face. Drawing on examples from around the US and the world, the panel will explore how public-private partnerships and other innovative financing mechanisms can fill the growing gap in public funding.

Between the funding crisis facing the Metropolitan Transit Authority, delays on New Jersey Transit, and the Tri-State region’s aging bridges, roads and tunnels, the need to address America’s aging infrastructure continues to make headlines. Despite assertions from stakeholders that infrastructure is the foundation for the future of our cities, the lack of viable, sustainable funding solutions persists. Join the Urban Land Institute’s New York, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester/Fairfield District Councils as leading experts discuss the state of transportation in the New York Metro Area, impediments and legislative hurdles to solutions, and what our region can learn from global best practices.
