2018 Economic Forecast: A Conversation with Mark Zandi
Navigating the Global Economy in a Time of Uncertainty
We invite you to join us for one our most anticipated events of the year—ULI New York’s annual economic forecast with acclaimed economist Mark Zandi of Moody’s. This members-only event promises an inside-look at the fluctuations that will impact business over the coming year.
We’ll examine what to expect from the Trump economy as priorities shift; the effect of recent natural disasters and opportunities for economic resiliency; shifting monetary policy; and the implications of tax reform—as well as the growing demand for infrastructure; social, economic and environmental security; and rising geopolitical risk. All in one fast-paced and information-rich discussion.
Questions to be addressed include:
- Almost a year into Trump’s presidency, how has the economic forecast changed as political priorities continue to shift? How does last year’s economic forecast compare to what has transpired politically and economically?
- With tax reform on the horizon in Washington, how might this affect the real estate market and the overall economy?
- There has been a recent onslaught of devastating hurricanes and tropical storms in the United States and beyond. How might these storms affect the U.S. economy, and where are there opportunities for economic resiliency?
- How might rising geo-political risks such as U.S.-North Korean relations affect the economic forecast?
Dr. Zandi will present a comprehensive assessment of and projected forecast for the U.S. and global economy, and describe the implications for the commercial and residential real estate markets. He serves as a trusted adviser to policymakers and frequently testifies before Congress on topics including the economic outlook, the nation’s daunting fiscal challenges, the merits of fiscal stimulus, financial regulatory reform, and foreclosure mitigation. Dr. Zandi is the author of Paying the Price: Ending the Great Recession and Beginning a New American Century, which provides an assessment of the monetary and fiscal policy response to the Great Recession. His other book, Financial Shock: A 360º Look at the Subprime Mortgage Implosion, and How to Avoid the Next Financial Crisis, is described by the New York Times as the “clearest guide” to the financial crisis.
