    WLI Washington and WLI Boston bring together dynamic real estate and investment leaders for a one-of-a-kind presentation featuring breakout sessions to engage in meaningful dialogue around issues that real estate professionals face today, including issues specific to women. The virtual event will kick off with an engaging presentation by leading researchers on COVID impacts and opportunities in our cities - Yesim Taylor, D.C. Policy Center and Lauren Shurtleff, Boston Planning & Development Agency.
     
    Then the program will transition to a series of smaller breakout conversations. These sessions will include 15-20 women per topic and will be led by two discussion leaders, one from the DC market and one from Boston:

    • Impact of Economic Development Initiatives - Led by Marian Marquez, Arlington Economic Development and Giuliana Di Mambro, Boston Properties
    • Adaptive Reuse and Historic Preservation - Led by Ellen Anselone, Finegold Alexander Architects and Emily Eig, EHT Traceries
    • Height Restrictions and Creative Development Response - Led by Theresa Sheils, Gensler and Halle Thomas, MP Boston
    • Impact of COVID-19 on Office/Hybrid Workplace - Led by Arlyn Vogelmann, Gensler.
    • Rise of Waterfront Development - Led by Ali Ribeiro, WS Development and Robin Bettarel, Hoffman & Associates
    • Social Impact Investing - Led by Lily Goldstein, JBG SMITH 
     
    Your registration will include the opportunity to select from one of the topics below.
     
    Please register for only ONE breakout session. If you register for more than one, the staff liaison will select which of the breakout sessions you will attend.
     
    Attendees will be asked to join their breakout session at 6:30 PM, so please also make a note of your selection.

    Speakers

    Yesim Taylor

    Executive Director, D.C. Policy Center

    With over ten years of public policy experience in the District, Yesim is recognized by policymakers and advocates as a source of reliable, balanced analyses on the District’s economy and demography. Before joining the D.C. Policy Center, Yesim lead the team within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer that scored the fiscal impact of all legislation the District considered. She frequently testified on high profile legislation and worked closely with the executive and Council staff to ensure that policymakers fully understand the fiscal implications of their proposed legislation. She co-founded and blogged at District Measured and her work was highlighted in Washington Post, Washington Business Journal, City Paper, and the Governing Magazine, among others. Yesim also has worked in the private sector, and consulted with international organization on a large portfolio of public finance topics.

    Lauren Shurtleff

    LSC Planning & Development, LLC

    Lauren Shurtleff is the Director of Planning at the BPDA, where she manages the Planning Division staff to produce plans, guidelines, and policies appropriate to the planning issues in Boston’s many neighborhoods and Downtown. She guides and mentors staff to work collaboratively with community, business and institutional organizations on public planning processes associated with physical planning in Boston. Additionally, Lauren collaborates with BPDA Development Review staff as well as with City, State and other community agencies and organizations to facilitate the coordination of the public planning and development review processes relating to planning issues.
