ULI New York's WLI and NEXT Present: Preparing For (And Breaking Into) the C-Suite
Despite decades of women’s participation in real estate development and investment, and despite steadily increased numbers of women entering the real estate field, very few women find themselves advancing to the highest levels of the industry. A recent CREW survey estimates that roughly 9% of C-suite positions in the CRE field are occupied by women, a statistic that has not changed in ten years.
The conversation regarding women’s advancement has relied heavily upon the same adages: women are told to self-advocate, given tips to improve confidence, and encouraged to be more assertive. While these suggestions are generally sound, they are not especially strategic in nature.
