ULI New York Hosts Annual Holiday Party

Last week, members of ULI New York attended the District Council’s annual holiday party at Scandinavia House to celebrate seasonal festivities with industry friends as well as honor Janette Sadik-Kahn, former Commissioner, New York City Department of Transportation, for her contributions to ULI’s Building Healthy Places Initiative.  Launched in July 2013, this two-year initiative works to connect ULI’s powerful global networks in an effort to promote projects in places all over the world that improve the health of people and their communities.

Attendees, including Robert C. Lieber, Chairman of ULI New York and Executive Managing Director of the Island Capital Group and Richard Anderson, President of the New York Building Congress, offered their thoughts on the night’s celebration, the successes of the District Council in 2013 and goals for 2014:

Robert C. Lieber, Chairman of ULI New York and Executive Managing Director of the Island Capital Group:  “2014 will be a year focused on building upon the successes we’ve had.  We see a great opportunity to increase the relevance of ULI more broadly not just in New York City, but also throughout the New York region.  Our goal is to enhance our value proposition to ULI’s members and to the real community we serve.  This means developing the most timely and relevant content for our programs that will push our industry forward as well as establishing more connections among the broader real estate community in the New York region.  We have a terrific group of members today, and we’d like to continue to attract the most impactful participants in the industry in the private as well as the public and not-for-profit sectors.  Being the voice of the real estate industry is more than just reaching owners.  It reflects a broad intersection in real estate that includes owner developers, planners, public officials, community boards, as well as investors.”
