Empire State Development Issues RFPs for Purchase or Lease & Redevelopment of Two Correctional Facilities

Empire State Development (ESD), New York State’s chief economic development agency, has issued Requests for Proposals for the purchase or lease and redevelopment of two former correctional facilities.  The first property, Beacon Correctional Facility, features 39 acres in the City of Beacon in Dutchess County, and includes 21 structures of more than 100,000 total square feet.  New York State has committed up to $6 million in grants in support of redevelopment at the Beacon site. The second property, Chateaugay Correctional Facility,  is located on a 100 acre site located in the Town of Chateaugay in Franklin County.  The campus like setting features 30 structures totaling approximately 98,000 square feet and 80 acres of undeveloped land.  The State has also made significant grants and incentives available for redevelopment in or around the Chateaugay site.   Both RFPs and additional photos, floor plans and related information can be found here
