A recent article in Urban Land features the realization of a community’s dream in the Bronx: New Settlement Community Campus. The campus, which includes a school, community center, health clinic, and a pool among other amenities, is a manifestation of how a healthy living environment can support a better education and better quality of life. Though the school is in the early stages of collecting data on student performance, the benefits of positioning the campus near stable housing are already clear.
