Long-time ULI member and former president and chief executive of Vornado Realty Trust, Michael Fascitelli, was nominated yesterday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo alongside Tony James, president and chief operating officer of private-equity firm Blackstone Group LP, as commissioners of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. “These are extremely strong candidates and reflect the governor’s commitment to reforming the Port,” said Scott Rechler, the authority’s vice chairman and an appointee of Gov. Andrew Cuomo in an article by the Wall Street Journal.
Fascitelli was recently honored at the 2014 Fall Meeting Gala, but his contributions to ULI date to the early 1990s when he joined the Commercial & Retail Development Product Council. He has served on several other product councils, offering insights into fellow ULI members about capital markets. He has also been instrumental in shaping ULI’s governance and strategy through his service on major boards and committees, including the ULI Board of Directors. He was a ULI trustee from 1994 to 2014 and is currently a ULI Foundation Governor.
