Equity is perhaps the most overlooked and least discussed component of DEI. While previous conversations have focused on the importance and value of creating a diverse workforce through recruiting and hiring policies, very little has been done to address the historic barriers, roadblocks, and challenges faced by minorities and women in the real estate industry who have historically lacked or been denied access to capital and deals. In the wake of George Floyd and subsequent public outcry, significant pledges have been made on the part of several large financial institutions to change these outcomes. Join us for a candid conversation with major industry stakeholders as they discuss the barriers to equity, deploying capital to create more equitable outcomes, the role of mandates, and the challenges ahead.
