Join ULI New York and NYC Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) for a Staten Island North Shore boat/walking tour to learn about exciting development plans detailed in Mayor Adams’ recently announced North Shore Action Plan. The new initiative seeks to leverage a $400 million public investment in the post-Hurricane Sandy North Shore waterfront to create a vibrant, mixed-use community. The plan, with a range of resiliency strategies, promises up to 2,400 housing units, expanded waterfront access with 20 acres of public open space, and over 7,500 jobs for North Shore residents and the broader Staten Island community, for an estimated economic impact of $3.8 billion. This strategic investment also targets 1.3 million square feet of new commercial space, a fully renovated Pier 1 on a storm-damaged waterfront, and the redevelopment of New Stapleton Waterfront (formerly a 35-acre Navy base) and the Bank Street Site (the former New York Wheel site). Our 2-hour tour will embark at 4pm from the Battery Park City NYC Ferry stop with commentary from EDC's CEO Andrew Kimball and its COO Melissa Roman Burch, and a slide show; continue by foot in a short walking tour to the Bank Street Site where Council Member Kamillah Hanks will speak; and return by sunset (6pm) along the planned building sites to Battery Park City. A social hour at a nearby watering hole will trail our arrival. Details to follow.
